Located on Motu Piti Aau ("Two hearts" in Tahitian), a coral island on the barrier reef, the InterContinental Resort and Thalasso-Spa Bora Bora is the newest Five Star Hotel on Bora Bora.

• For instance, it is the first hotel in the world to use an air conditioning system operating with deep sea water;  The sea water air-conditioning system eliminates the use of HCFCs (Hydro-chlorofluorocarbons, ozone depleting substances) of traditional air-conditioners and is 80% more energy efficient. This simple system pumps cold, 40° F, deep sea water from a depth of 2500 feet to cool down the villas by thermic exchange.
• It is also the first luxury establishment to suggest deep sea water Thalasso center and Spa, in the South Pacific, which will place Bora Bora on the map with the most elite spas and resorts of the world. This desalinated, extraordinarily pure deep sea water, containing an excellent complement of nutritional of mineral salts will be bottled under the label "Vai Moana" (the ocean source) right at the Spa.
  These ecological initiatives aiming at a sustained and harmonious development of the Pacific Pearl are heading the same way as the will of a team already operating 3 renowned InterContinental Resort Hotels on Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora. 
• Finally, it is the first resort in French Polynesia to feature only overwater accommodations (80 villas of 100 square meter in space, counting the terrace), setting a new benchmark in elegance and service. The architects and interior designers, in cooperation with the InterContinental Hotels Group have combined Polynesian tradition and contemporary style, making this deluxe resort hotel unique beyond compare.

The 80 overwater villas are equipped of : 

• A separate living room with a glass-bottom coffee table for viewing the abundant sea life in the lagoons (illuminated at night)

The InterContinental Resort and Thalasso Spa Bora Bora redefines the traditional overwater bungalow concept by offering 80 luxurious overwater villas (each of them encompassing more than 100 square meter in space) that overlook the clear blue waters of the lagoon and tu stunning scenery of Bora Bora:

• 21 “Emerald” Overwater villas. Situated close to the resort buildings with a magnificent view over the beach and the motu
• 24 “Sapphire” Overwater villas. Situated between the Emerald and Diamond Villas with a remarkable view over the lagoon and the island of Bora Bora
• 35 “Diamond” Overwater villas. Situated in absolute peace, in the furthest out from the resort in the turquoise waters of the lagoon with an extraordinary view to mount Otemanu and the lagoon

The three categories have exactly the same layout and comfort inside, the only difference is the view and the location. Emerald Villas are the closest ones to the hotel`s buildings and they have the view facing the beach and Motu Piti Aau (islet). The Sapphire Villas are located between the Emerald and Diamond Villas and they have the view facing the lagoon and Bora Bora Island. The Diamond Villas are the furthest out in the lagoon and have a view facing the islets "Motus" and the reef.

Each villa is composed of a room with a king size bed convertible into twin beds if required and of a sofa convertible into two single beds for one person, and a bathroom. 

The villas have roofs of pandanus thatch as did the traditional Polynesian homes called fare.

All overwater bungalows have direct access into the lagoon from their split-level decks equipped of a dining table and bathing chairs.

A « must » is breakfast delivery by flower decorated outrigger canoe (to order the day before and weather permitting) straight to the terraces of the overwater villas.
