Beyond the lagoon, the views carry to the barrier reef and the green-wreathed volcanic peaks that dominate the little island and its 6,000 people.

ACCOMMODATIONS:

Hotel Bora Bora's 54 Polynesian-style bungalows and fares are linked to the resort's public areas by black, lava-stone walkways. These individual accommodations enjoy a variety of settings from garden-view and beachfront to overwater locations.
Whether bungalows or fares, the oversized rooms at Hotel Bora Bora take on the eclectic taste of an old trader's house.
Each is furnished in rattan and bamboo, with Tasmanian oak floors, red-cedar walls, ceilings of pandanus lashed to beams of Douglas fir, ball-and-claw, cast iron tubs, overhead fans, CD players and personal safes. Interiors also include a collection of Polynesian craft, from canoe paddles to fish hooks.
Choose from 15 overwater accommodations spead out over the lagoon, and snorkel into pristine reef waters from your bungalow.
Hotel Bora Bora was the first hotel in Bora Bora to introduce overwater bungalows.
The 6 deep overwater (a little further out, close by a coral reef flush with marine life) and 9 lagoon bungalows (located in shallow waters) feature a 2-tiered sundeck with steps leading directly into the lagoon.
Overwater bungalows include a king-size, four poster-bed and 2-tiered, teak sundeck shaded by a roof of hand-tied pandanus.
All rooms feature a ball-and-claw, cast-iron tub and a separate shower.
Bungalows are nestled in the tropical gardens and alongside the resort's north, south and west beaches. A deck and hammock lend a castaway mood to a Superior Bungalow:
Superior Bungalows
are located on the palm-thick beachfront. Aside from a spacious bedroom and bathroom, they come with a sitting area that leads to a small patio facing the lagoon.
Deluxe Bungalows
are set on the beach, bedrooms facing the sea. They feature an elevated sundeck, with steps leading to the shore and a separate lounge overlooking the sundeck.
"Fare" is the Tahitian word for home. Hotel Bora Bora's fares or villas enjoy tropical garden or beachfront settings.
8 come with private swimming pools, these pool fares are enclosed by a lava-stone wall. All feature a living room, bedroom, en suite sitting room, bathroom and spacious sundeck.
3 fares feature a Jacuzzi set into a teak sundeck within a garden setting.
Premium fares are located in prime beach areas.
Each Fare embraces an area of 117m2 (1,260 ft2), among the most spacious and private of accomodations on Bora Bora.
